Hot, Sunny Day

The hottest day of the summer was today. If you were watching Tiger dismantle the field at Firestone you saw just how hot and humid it was in northeast Ohio. We turned our air conditioning on for the first time... August 9^th! While it was too muggy for us to spend much time outside in the mid-day (I think it's that we're so out of "summer-shape"!), we set up Lincoln's water park in the late afternoon, and he had a blast!!!

Jenn has been working like crazy to get the last bit of wall paper and glue down in our house. She's done a wonderful job. Next up is a few rounds of sealing, joint compounding, sanding, re-joint compounding, etc.... then painting, and we'll be done with the major projects in the house. We can't believe it's been 3+ years. Soon it will be time to move again... OH BOY! We'll post pics when it's done, maybe in the next couple of weeks.

More Home-Work

Our new bedroom furniture ought to be delivered soon, and that means we need to get off of our fannies and get painting in our bedroom. It's only been 3 years!!! Jenn did a great job of pulling the wallpaper in the room. You may recall the crazy border application:

Surprisingly, Lincoln has been very good at being patient when Jenn and I are working. He's been playing by himself very nicely in the bathroom right next to where we're working.
Another fun development is that Lincoln has learned to feed himself toast. He's been quite curious about watching our hands when we're turning things on and off, and when we're cutting food or patting burgers. Lately one of the fascinations has been his watching Jenn tear off pieces of toast. Today, Jenn handind him a piece of toast for him to tear bits himself, and he did a good job. He tends to let his mouth get a little bit too full, but he hasn't choked yet!

Getting Better

Lincoln has improved significantly. He coughs here and there and his nose is runny here and there, but he's sleeping through the night again and he's napping well (at least until right now... he's been talking to himself for 10 minutes).

The bummer is that he's got me sick right now. My throat started hurting last night, and after reading to Lincoln for a loooong time, it's really sore. Hopefully Jenn won't catch it.

Jenn's been pulling the trim/wallpaper in our bedroom and she's made big progress today with the steamer. Perhaps the bathroom will pull as easily as the trim (fingers crossed).

This was a monster weekend as far as getting some things done around the house is concerned.  Mom & Dad helped turn the guest room into the nicest room in the house.  The wallpaper is off of the bathroom walls (Haaaaaaal-lehhhhhhhhhhhh-luuuu-jaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!), and the walls will be ready to paint very shortly.  I pretty much feel the same about wallpaper as I do about minivans.  I hope that doesn't offend any of our readers.

Lincoln's room is almost complete... just wall decorations to go.  Jenn's feeling "okay."  (She's sitting beside me and when I asked her how she's feeling, she said, "Okay.")

Jenn and I are preparing for our upcoming lesson with our small group.  We're going through David Goetz's book, Death By Suburb, and we're actually really excited about it.  The book pretty much indicts any Christian reader who lives a normal, American, suburban life, and I anticipate that it will be challenging for our group.  But it's a good challenge.  I'll be leading each meeting, and sometimes we'll split the husbands from the wives and Jenn will lead the ladies.    I'll keep you posted on how it goes.  Any readers who have led small groups, please let me know what type of material has worked well for your group... I'm always looking for good stuff.
